Rose of The Shires Rally Run

This Sunbeam Motor Cycle Club rally, is an exciting and popular motorcycle event for participants and spectators alike.

Though starting as a one make club, it became, in 1925, a club welcoming members with any make of machine and has remained so to this day. This road riding event witnesses many makes of motorcycles, with varying cut-off dates, the latest being 31st December 1939.

Bikes meet from 8.30am behind the Museum and ride out just before 10am returning anytime between 2pm & 3pm.

The performance will take place at 7.30pm in the the marquee on the green, near the towpath alongside the canal museum. Please bring your own blankets, picnics and chairs.

Ahoy Me-hearties, join us for some dastardly pirate fun on the picnic area alongside the Museum!

Arrive dressed in Pirate costume for FREE Museum admission with rewards of chocolate for 'Rapscallions' completing the Treasure Trail.
With a Yo-ho-ho you could let off steam bouncing and sliding on our giant pirate inflatable.
All 'Hands, including Bosun' to be accompanied by an 'old salt'


Shiver-me-timbers - please note the inflatable is weather dependent.

Winner of Best Event at the Northamptonshire Heritage Awards 2008 and 2010.

Last year saw several thousand people enjoy this long weekend where the whole village steps back in time to the war years. The Home Guard, the women's land army, the Fire Service, the Americans, the lovely Lola Lamour - all were there.

Introduction to Traditional Canal Painting


21st & 22nd September 2013

Learn or improve your traditional canal painting techniques at this weekend course with Terence Edgar. You will find plenty of inspiration and ideas from authentic items in the collection at the Canal Museum, Stoke Bruerne and from the surrounding canal village of Stoke Bruerne itself.

You will be able to work at your own pace and there will be plenty of time for individual instruction. If you have 'Roses and Castles' pictures of your own, bring them along for feedback too.

All materials and equipment will be provided, just bring an old shirt to paint in. Advance booking essential.

£85 per person. 10am to 4pm each day. Max 10 people. Lunch not included however the Waterside Cafe sells a selection of Ginsters sandwiches and homemade cake as well as hot & cold beverages and snacks.
